Ron pestana, LCSW
Ron Pestana comes to the CCRH with more than thirty years of experience in the treatment of adults, families and couples with specialization in developmental trauma, depression and anxiety. In addition to his clinical work, he served as trainer, consultant, and administrators to a variety of community-based settings. He is actively involved in providing clinical services to the LGBTQ community in Chicago for nearly two decades.
Before arriving at CCRH he served as the director of the Advanced Clinical Trauma Fellowship at the Center for Contextual Change. He facilitated several consultation groups for clinicians working with clinically complex clients and offered individual consultation using the Collaborative Change Model. He has affiliations with several graduate social work programs in Massachusetts and Illinois and developed clinical trainings for the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services. Ron’s training at Harvard University Medical School emphasized the importance of assessment of emotional, developmental and behavioral conditions in children and adults taking into account biological, developmental and psychosocial factors. He is particularly knowledgeable of spectrum and attention deficit disorders in children and adults.
Regardless of the challenges his clients face, he has grown to appreciate their distress always occurs within a relational context. Ron believes effective treatment involves building a collaborative relationship with his clients, comprehensive assessment of their needs and setting obtainable goals. Ron takes a holistic and collaborative approach to psychotherapy integrating DBT, ACT, narrative therapy to bring about change and growth with the individuals, couples and families he serves .
